1. Evermore’s Right to Edit and Review
When submitting a story to Evermore and allowing Evermore to share it on one of its platforms, you agree to have it published in its entirety, anonymously, without authorship, and subject to the license described below. For quality control and privacy reasons, Evermore reserves the right to proofread and edit submissions before publication.
2. Right Not to Post
By submitting your story to Evermore, you grant Evermore the right to use your story anonymously and without attribution in furtherance of Evermore’s mission. This may include publication in formats such as newsletters, blogs, websites, social media, trainings, policy and advocacy efforts, research or data analysis, or podcasts, or in no way at all. Evermore may choose to withhold publishing your story if it violates any of these guidelines, or if, in Evermore’s sole discretion, the story does not advance Evermore’s mission in any way.
3. Accuracy.
We ask that you submit stories that are truthful and based on genuine experiences. By submitting, you affirm that the information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
4. Anonymized Information
Please do not send us anything that may put yourself or others at risk if published and avoid providing descriptions of health or other sensitive information about third parties. Additionally, please take care to maintain anonymity within your work. This includes removing personally identifying information about yourself or others, as well as the names of specific locations or institutions. If your story has specific names of people or places within it, Evermore may not publish your story if it contains personal information about third parties.
5. Legal Advice
Evermore is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of bereaved people. Our story collection effort is intended to give voice to how systems respond when someone dies. Evermore will not provide legal advice or representation for any aspect of any story submitted to us. By submitting a story, you acknowledge that Evermore does not investigate submissions, which may be used anonymously for educational or awareness purposes exclusively.
6. No Harassment
Please keep your posts free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Posts that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will not be shared.
7. Harmful Language
Evermore is not a place for bigotry or slander. Our goal is to make the world a more livable place for all bereaved people. Refrain from using language that promotes hate speech, racism, sexism, doxxing, religion-bashing, name-calling, insults, and any other abusive/threatening language. “Abusive language” includes posts that are malicious or insulting in nature. Any submission that does not meet these criteria will not be posted.
8. No Crowdfunding or Self-Advertisement
Evermore will not consider any submission that includes any request for donations or any other kind of financial assistance. This includes requesting money on behalf of others as well as yourself. Additionally, Evermore will not accept self-promotion or any advertisement.
9. No Spam
Do not use the intake form for any reason other than submitting a story that shares your experience with how systems respond when someone dies. Users who submit solicitations, spam, or other information that does not meet these submission guidelines may be banned.
10. Media
For copyright reasons, please do not share any media with your post. Media may include pictures, videos, music, or links of any kind. If you believe that a user has posted media that infringes on your copyright, please refer to Evermore’s Terms & Conditions.
11. License
By submitting your story to us, you grant Evermore a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, copy, publicly display, translate, and create derivative works of your story. This license is necessary for Evermore’s use and posting of your story.
