Guided by multi-instrumentalist Annie Wenz\, Grief & the Music Within is an immersive experience where participants explore loss through songwriting\, reflective writing\, sound frequencies\, and guided imagery. \nThrough gentle writing prompts\, sound exploration\, and shared musical expression\, this workshop offers space to explore memories\, emotions\, and the stories that shape our grief. Together\, we’ll use music and language to give voice to what lives inside us—turning sound into meaning and silence into song. \nNo musical background is necessary—just an open heart and a willingness to explore. Whether you’re remembering a loved one or holding space for complex emotions\, this workshop offers a safe\, supportive environment for expression\, creativity\, and connection. \nAnnie Wenz is a performing and recording artist\, educator\, and former registered nurse whose work spans more than 25 countries. For decades\, Annie has woven together her backgrounds in wellness and music\, presenting workshops in hospitals\, health facilities\, and therapeutic settings—using music as a grounding and expressive medium for connection and care. \nHer songs have stirred crowds at rallies\, street corners\, schools\, art centers\, and major festivals both in the U.S. and abroad. Through the collaborative nature of songwriting\, participants can honor the memory of their loved ones while also recognizing that others share similar experiences and emotions. \nIn this two-hour online program\, singer-songwriter Joli Hope will engage participants in an open\, compassionate conversation about grief. She will guide them through a process of transforming their thoughts and feelings into a song. This session will offer an overview of the Call for Papers\, explain the scientific importance of bereavement research\, and provide guidance on crafting competitive manuscripts for publication.  \nBereavement — the experience of losing a loved one through death — is increasingly acknowledged as an important health concern by the United States’ federal infrastructure. Rising death rates linked to global crises such as pandemics\, natural disasters\, and societal inequities have dramatically increased the number of bereaved individuals\, with significant implications for population health worldwide. In fact\, current evidence highlights associations between bereavement and a range of poor health\, social\, and economic outcomes. \nThis informational call will explore the current state of bereavement science and outline why it represents an exciting and timely opportunity for health researchers interested in shaping an emerging yet significant field of science.
